Google has introduced the Gemini app for Windows, designed to provide seamless AI assistance alongside users' existing tools. The desktop app allows users to access Gemini quickly via the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut, enabling instant support for tasks such as fact-checking or generating ideas without interrupting their workflow. Within the app, users can engage Gemini Spark 1, a personal AI agent, to handle complex tasks or create summaries by pulling data from Google apps like Gmail and Google Drive. Additionally, the app supports creative functions, including generating custom images with Nano Banana and directing video production through Gemini Omni 1. The lightweight application is optimized to run quietly without affecting PC performance. Available globally for Windows 10 and 11, Google plans to expand the app's native desktop features over time.
