JetKVM has introduced the JetKVM Mini, a compact and budget-friendly version of its remote KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) device. The Mini comes in two variants: a wired model with Ethernet priced at $39 and a wireless model, JetKVM Mini W, at $42. Bulk purchases reduce the price to $33 and $36 per unit respectively. The device measures 42 by 42 by 23 millimeters, roughly the size of a matchbox, and retains core JetKVM functionalities such as native 1080p video capture, USB keyboard and mouse control, and the same web interface and cloud services as its larger counterparts. The wired Mini connects via an RJ45 Ethernet port, allowing users to plug in video, USB, and network cables directly to the target machine. Setup involves reading the device’s IP address from its display and accessing it through a browser. The wireless Mini W replaces the Ethernet port with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth LE for setup, enabling remote management of machines located beyond cable reach, such as PCs in different rooms or devices in racks without free switch ports. JetKVM redesigned the Mini from the ground up, focusing on essential KVM functions like video capture, USB control, virtual media mounting, and reliable connectivity even when the managed machine is offline. The device uses an ESP32-P4X microcontroller with a hardware H.264 encoder to capture video at 1080p at 30 frames per second or 720p at 60 fps, streaming it over WebRTC to browsers. The wireless model adds an ESP32-C5 chip supporting Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE, along with Zigbee and Thread protocols. Two USB ports serve different purposes: one connects to the target computer at USB 2.0 High Speed, handling keyboard, mouse, and virtual media via a TF card slot; the other is a general-purpose USB 2.0 Full Speed port for extensions, backup power, or USB host functions. JetKVM has rewritten the firmware for the ESP32-P4X, which will be open source. The device supports familiar features such as keyboard layouts, text paste, virtual media from ISO files, Wake-on-LAN, MQTT integration, OIDC login, and over-the-air updates with rollback. Upcoming JetKVM OS Services will enable 4K screen capture, shared clipboard, guest terminal, and file transfer. Security features include ready support for secure boot, allowing users to lock the device to JetKVM-signed firmware. Both JetKVM Mini models will be available starting October 26, 2026, through authorized resellers.
