Nscale, a rapidly growing AI data center company based in the United Kingdom, has appointed Fidji Simo to its board of directors. Simo brings extensive leadership experience from her previous roles at OpenAI, Meta, and Instacart. She was formerly the CEO of AGI Deployment at OpenAI, where she was the second-in-command, and led Instacart through its 2023 IPO. She also spent over a decade at Meta and currently serves on Shopify’s board.

Joining other notable board members such as Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker, and Nick Clegg, Simo’s addition is seen as a strategic move ahead of Nscale’s anticipated initial public offering scheduled for this fall. Josh Payne, Nscale’s founder and CEO, highlighted Simo’s unique understanding of scaling products for billions of users and the infrastructure challenges involved.

Founded just two years ago, Nscale has quickly gained attention due to the rising demand for AI infrastructure. The company designs, builds, and operates specialized data centers optimized for AI workloads. According to reports, Nscale is seeking to raise up to $3.5 billion in funding ahead of its IPO, reflecting its rapidly increasing valuation.

Simo’s appointment underscores Nscale’s focus on combining technological innovation with experienced leadership to support its growth and operational scale in the competitive AI infrastructure market.
