Nscale, a rapidly growing AI data center startup based in the United Kingdom, has named Fidji Simo to its board of directors. Simo brings extensive leadership experience from her previous roles at OpenAI, Meta, and Instacart. She was formerly the CEO of AGI deployment at OpenAI and remains an advisor to the company. Prior to OpenAI, Simo led Instacart as chair and CEO through its 2023 IPO and spent over a decade at Meta, including heading the Facebook app. She also serves on Shopify’s board.

Nscale’s founder and CEO, Josh Payne, highlighted Simo’s expertise in scaling products used by billions, emphasizing the importance of such experience for Nscale’s mission to build AI infrastructure at scale. The company’s board already includes notable tech figures such as Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker, and Nick Clegg.

Founded just two years ago, Nscale has seen its valuation rise sharply amid growing demand for AI infrastructure. The startup designs, builds, and operates data centers optimized for AI workloads. According to recent reports, Nscale is seeking to raise up to $3.5 billion in funding ahead of a planned initial public offering expected this fall. Adding Simo to the board strengthens Nscale’s leadership as it prepares for this significant milestone.
