System76 has unveiled the Thelio Mira AI, a new line of GPU-focused workstations tailored for local artificial intelligence development. These workstations are designed to enable users to train, fine-tune, and iterate AI models entirely on their own hardware, eliminating reliance on cloud services.

The Thelio Mira AI can be configured with up to a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processor, 192 GB of DDR5 RAM, and dual NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 GPUs, offering up to 192 GB of GPU memory. This hardware setup supports multi-GPU AI training, model fine-tuning, computer vision tasks, image generation, simulations, and inference workloads.

The system runs on Linux-based operating systems, including System76's Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS with the COSMIC desktop environment, as well as Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS. It provides a variety of video output options and extensive connectivity, including USB Type-C and Type-A ports, multiple DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, dual 5GbE LAN ports, and built-in Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4.

Storage options include multiple M.2 PCIe NVMe slots and SATA drives, supporting high-speed data access necessary for AI workloads. The workstation is housed in a durable aluminum and tempered glass chassis, assembled in Denver, Colorado.

System76 offers limited parts and labor warranties ranging from one to three years, with specific terms for batteries and chargers. The company also notes that international customers are responsible for taxes, duties, and shipping costs related to warranty repairs.

The introduction of Thelio Mira AI provides AI developers and researchers with a powerful, locally controlled platform to accelerate AI experimentation and deployment without depending on external cloud infrastructure.
