TikTok is expanding the ways users can interact in comment sections by introducing new features such as voice comments, comment polls, photo carousel comments, and Live Photo comments. These additions aim to transform comment areas from simple feedback spaces into more engaging environments where users can communicate more dynamically. Voice comments allow users to record audio messages up to one minute long by tapping a microphone icon in the comment box. These voice messages can be played by other users and are moderated under TikTok’s Community Guidelines using a mix of automated tools and human review, including speech-to-text technology. This feature is being rolled out globally over the next month for users aged 18 and older. Creators now have the ability to add polls to their own videos, a feature that was previously limited but is now available worldwide. Polls can include up to five options and allow creators to set a voting timeframe. This tool can be used for engaging viewers on decisions such as choosing video ideas or other interactive topics. Photo carousel comments enable users to include up to nine photos in a single comment, expanding from the previous limit of one photo. Additionally, Live Photo comments, which provide a brief motion preview before displaying the full image, are now available globally. Photo carousel comments will be introduced globally within the next month. These updates reflect TikTok’s ongoing efforts to foster deeper interaction within its community by integrating features commonly found in messaging apps, enhancing the overall user experience on the platform.
