TikTok Enhances Comments with Voice, Polls, and Photo Features
2 min read
TikTok is expanding the ways users can interact within its comments section by introducing several new features. These include voice comments, comment polls, photo carousel comments, and Live Photo comments. The goal is to transform comment sections from simple feedback areas into dynamic spaces for engagement.
Voice comments allow users to record and post audio messages up to one minute long by tapping a microphone icon in the comment box. These audio comments can be played by anyone viewing the video. TikTok has confirmed that voice comments will adhere to the platform’s Community Guidelines, with content monitored through a mix of automated tools and human review, including speech-to-text transcription.
This feature is being rolled out globally over the next month to users aged 18 and older. Additionally, creators now have the ability to add polls to their own videos’ comments. This feature, previously limited to some users, is now available worldwide. Polls can include up to five options and allow creators to set a voting timeframe. This tool can be used for various purposes such as deciding on future video content or gathering opinions from viewers.
Photo carousel comments enable users to include up to nine photos in a single comment, an increase from the previous limit of one photo. Live Photo comments, which provide a brief motion preview before displaying the full image, are also being introduced and are available globally. Photo carousel comments will be available globally within the next month.
These updates reflect TikTok’s effort to borrow elements from messaging apps and enhance user interaction, making comment sections more engaging and interactive.
