Several prominent venture capital firms disclosed substantial fundraising efforts in October through SEC filings, underscoring investor appetite for specialized sectors such as artificial intelligence and regulated industries.
Austin-based Trust Ventures filed to raise $400 million for its fifth fund, focusing on startups in highly regulated markets. Founded in 2017 by Salen Churi, the firm previously sought to raise $225 million for its fourth fund earlier this year. Similarly, deep tech-focused Interlagos Capital is pursuing a $400 million second fund.
Former Benchmark partners Victor Lazarte and Kris Fredrickson have surpassed their initial target by raising $1.252 billion for Diffusion ONE, their debut AI-focused fund. Since launching, Diffusion ONE has participated in major rounds, including co-leading Harveyâs $550 million Series H and joining Etchedâs $300 million Series C.
Benchmark itself filed to raise over $360 million across four new partner-only funds, with Jack Altman, who recently joined Benchmark, named in the filings. Meanwhile, Joe Lonsdaleâs 8VC is raising multiple new vehicles, including a $400 million fund named 8VC DSS III and an AI fund that has already secured $13.5 million.
Notable Capital, known for backing companies like Anthropic and Airbnb, filed to raise its fifth fund, while Greenoaks Capital, a co-lead investor in Anthropicâs $65 billion Series H, filed for its seventh fund. These moves coincide with Anthropicâs ongoing efforts toward a public offering, positioning these firms to capitalize on potential returns.
Industry Ventures has raised at least $1.7 billion for its secondaries fund launched in July, reflecting growing demand for secondary market investments in high-profile private companies. Analysts note that stakes in firms like Anthropic and OpenAI are among the most competitive assets in venture capital today.
