Apple has introduced a revamped version of its Health app alongside the launch of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. The updated app leverages Apple Intelligence to analyze health data more effectively, offering users a new Insights tab that summarizes relevant health information and provides personalized recommendations. One notable feature is the 'Health Age,' which compares various health metrics like VO2 max, sleep quality, and blood biomarkers against a user's actual age to provide an age-related health assessment.
The app also includes a longevity tab that evaluates health factors such as sleep, movement, and heart health using data collected from the Apple Watch and iPhone. Users can integrate lab results into the app, supported by a partnership with Quest Diagnostics offering a 50-biomarker panel for $119, enabling access to detailed health data typically available only through laboratory testing.
Apple Intelligence enhances the app's ability to interpret health data, contributing to features like the readiness score and Insights tab. For example, the app might recommend adding interval training to improve cardiovascular fitness. It also provides more detailed analysis in areas such as fitness and heart health.
Additionally, the Health app offers in-depth movement assessments, which can benefit users who are aging or recovering from injuries. The app includes instructional videos from trainers to guide users through movement assessments, simulating a coaching experience.
The updated Health app is scheduled to be released later this year, initially available in U.S. English.
