CloudNC, a UK startup specializing in manufacturing software, announced a $20 million Series B extension round, increasing its total funding to $128 million. Founded in 2015 by Theo Saville and Chris Emery, the company develops AI-powered CAM Assist software designed to automate aspects of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. CNC machining involves computer-controlled machines shaping materials into precise parts used across automotive, defense, and consumer hardware sectors.

Before machining begins, experts must determine how to hold parts and select appropriate tools. Traditional CAM software assists with these tasks but requires manual input for execution strategies. CloudNC’s CAM Assist integrates with existing CAM platforms like Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam to automate tool selection, cutting directions, and machining parameters, generating code for CNC machines. Users then review and adjust the output, maintaining expert oversight.

The software aims to enhance productivity by automating routine setup tasks while preserving human judgment. Currently, over 1,000 machine shops globally use CAM Assist, with 80% of customers based in the United States. With a team of 80 employees, CloudNC plans to use the new funding to increase market penetration, improve go-to-market strategies, and develop new products.

One upcoming product, Quote Agent, will help manufacturers rapidly estimate project costs and risks to accelerate decision-making. This tool addresses challenges such as reshoring manufacturing and skilled labor shortages, enabling shops to quote and program jobs more efficiently with existing resources. Quote Agent is expected to launch next month.

CloudNC’s approach reflects years of development and practical experience in machining, aiming to tackle the complexity of CNC part production through AI-driven automation.
