Tesla has confirmed that it will unveil the second generation of its Roadster sports car on October 1. The announcement came via a brief post on the social media platform X, featuring the phrase "Go for launch" alongside a graphic displaying the date "10.01." The graphic also hints at the inclusion of optional cold gas thrusters, a technology developed by SpaceX, which could enable unique driving capabilities.
The Roadster was initially announced in November 2017 but has experienced multiple delays since then. The project even sparked a public disagreement last year between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman over reservation refunds and wait times. Recent reports suggest that Tesla abandoned the original 2017 design in favor of a new, unrevealed version.
Despite the upcoming reveal, Musk has indicated that production of the new Roadster will not begin until 12 to 18 months after the unveiling. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Tesla as it moves closer to delivering its next-generation electric sports car.
