Apple has introduced the Watch Series 12, equipped with an advanced Health Sensing System and the new S11 chip, designed to deliver the most accurate heart rate monitoring available in a wearable device. The update includes higher-frequency heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) measurements, enabling new health insights such as a readiness score that assesses daily physical capacity. A redesigned Health app on iPhone will launch later this year, featuring a Longevity tab that tracks health metrics relative to age.

The S11 chip also powers new Audio Intelligence features, including Sound Recognition, Live Rewind, and Siri Recap, which help users stay aware of important sounds and recall conversation details while maintaining strong privacy protections. These features process audio locally on the device without storing recordings, ensuring user data security.

The Watch Series 12 continues to support existing health and safety functions like ECG, sleep apnea notifications, Fall Detection, and Emergency SOS. Battery life has improved, offering up to 24 hours of daily use and 10 hours during outdoor workouts, with faster charging capabilities.

Apple has enhanced step tracking accuracy using machine learning algorithms and introduced new watch face complications for real-time health data. The device is available in multiple finishes, including aluminum, titanium, and ceramic, with new color options and band designs.

The watch runs watchOS 27, which brings Siri AI to the device, enabling more contextual and intelligent interactions. Additional software updates include a dynamic app grid, new gesture controls, and expanded health tracking features such as perimenopause and menopause support.

Apple Watch Series 12 is available for pre-order starting September 9, with retail availability from September 18. Pricing begins at $399 in the U.S. The product aligns with Apple's environmental goals, using recycled materials and renewable energy in its production.
