Apple is teaming up with LG to create a new lineup of smart home devices, according to Bloomberg. The products in development include a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell, all designed to work seamlessly with Apple's upcoming smart home hub. This hub is rumored to feature a 6-inch square display that can be placed on a countertop or mounted on a wall and is expected to launch on October 13.

In addition to these devices, the partnership extends to a series of security cameras, including indoor and outdoor models, as well as a floodlight. These LG-branded devices are anticipated to be announced or possibly released next week. Apple has not provided official details on the collaboration.

The decision to brand the devices under LG, despite joint development efforts, is notable. This move positions Apple to expand its smart home ecosystem and compete more directly with Amazon, which currently offers similar products through its Ring brand.

Apple's push into smart home hardware reflects its broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its presence in connected home technology.
