Apple has launched the Apple Watch Series 12, equipped with a new Health Sensing System and the powerful S11 chip to deliver enhanced health and fitness monitoring. This latest model offers the most accurate heart rate sensing available in a wearable device, measuring heart rate every five seconds and providing more frequent heart rate variability (HRV) data. These improvements enable new health insights, including a readiness score that assesses a user’s daily physical capacity based on activity, vitals, and sleep.
The redesigned Health app on iPhone, arriving later this year, will feature a Longevity tab with a Health Age metric, helping users track their health relative to their age. The S11 chip also supports new Audio Intelligence features designed to help users stay aware of important sounds and recall key moments from conversations, all while maintaining strong privacy protections through on-device processing.
Apple Watch Series 12 continues to support a wide range of health and safety features such as advanced workout tracking, sleep monitoring, ECG, sleep apnea notifications, Fall Detection, and Emergency SOS. Battery life remains up to 24 hours for general use, with a 25% increase to 10 hours during outdoor workouts and faster charging capabilities.
The device offers the most accurate step tracking among smartwatches, enabled by new machine learning algorithms and the S11 chip. Users can track steps in real time via a new watch face complication.
The watch is available in multiple finishes including aluminum, titanium, and a new ceramic option, with enhanced durability through Ceramic Shield 2 glass on aluminum models. The Series 12 supports watchOS 27, which introduces Siri AI for improved personal context understanding and broader knowledge access.
Additional watchOS 27 features include a dynamic app grid, new single-handed gestures, Smart Stack widget suggestions, and expanded support for cycle tracking and Workout Buddy.
Apple Watch Series 12 is available for pre-order starting September 9, with retail availability from September 18. Pricing begins at $399 in the U.S. The product is designed with sustainability in mind, using recycled materials and renewable energy in its manufacturing process.
This release underscores Apple’s continued focus on integrating advanced health technologies and AI-driven features into wearable devices, aiming to provide users with deeper health insights and enhanced daily convenience while prioritizing privacy and security.
