Ember has unveiled its latest temperature-controlled smart mug, the Mug 3, designed to maintain drinks at an ideal temperature for extended periods. This third-generation model introduces a new physical button on the bottom of the mug, allowing users to cycle through five preset temperatures ranging from 125 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit without needing to access the companion app.
This on-mug control addresses previous user concerns about connectivity and pairing issues with the Ember app, offering a more convenient way to adjust drink temperature, especially when a phone is not within easy reach. However, the buttonās placement on the bottom of the mug has drawn some criticism for being awkward to press while handling hot liquids.
The Ember app remains available for users who prefer more precise customization. It provides recommended temperature presets for various beverages, such as 136 degrees for black coffee and 132 degrees for green tea, along with options to create personalized settings.
Additional improvements in the Mug 3 include a sliding lid to reduce spills, a battery life capable of maintaining temperature for up to three hours, and the distinction of being Emberās first top-rack dishwasher-safe mug. The mug is not microwave-safe.
The Mug 3 is offered in two sizes: a 10-ounce model priced at $129 and a 14-ounce version at $149. Color options vary by size, with the larger model available in eight colors including sage green and lavender.
Alongside the Mug 3, Ember introduced the Tumbler 2, a 16-ounce insulated tumbler designed with a slimmer profile to fit standard car cup holders. Priced at $179 and available in black, it replaces previous models in Emberās lineup. Both products are available through Emberās website, Target, and Amazon.
