The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has shared an update regarding its ongoing investigation into the runway excursion accident involving 21 Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-33A cargo aircraft, at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026. Investigators recovered the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) from the accident site and successfully extracted data at the NTSB’s Vehicle Recorder Laboratory in Washington, DC.
The CVR, an Acron Aviation model FA2100, recorded over two hours of high-quality audio across four channels. The FDR, an Ontic model SSFDR, captured approximately 54 hours of flight data, including more than 400 parameters. The NTSB plans to convene a CVR review group soon to analyze the recordings in detail and produce a transcript.
Preliminary summaries of events from the final minutes of the flight have been compiled from both recorders, though the exact timing between the two devices has not yet been synchronized. These findings remain subject to revision as the investigation continues.
